Christmas Stockings

10 Dec

As an early Christmas gift my mom sent these our way in the mail.  The stockings are gorgeous and they were made from old, and quite ugly, women’s suits.

It is amazing what potential masterpieces can come right out of your local thrift store for a low price and some hard work.  We love them, thanks mom!

These stockings have made our living room very beautiful and Christmasy.

She also made some for my older sister and her husband:

And some for my little sister (the finished stocking has a diamond ring on hers) and her fiance:

How fun to see the girls get their stockings 🙂

It is great to live in a town where you get inspiration from things like entire green Pendleton wool suits that turn up in the thrift store. I would have loved to see the owner actually wearing this itchy thing……but at least it went to a good cause. There was also a glowing plaid one that I passed on ….so it’s still out there for someone else to enjoy.

All fabrics on the stockings were thrifted….and the buttons were from Caitlyn’s great grandma’s sewing stash. Scraps and sleeves are now stuffing the “pouf,” which is seems to never get any fuller, but I will keep working at it!
