I think it is important to have a goal and focus for a blog.
Last year my goal was to stop buying clothes for my girls for an entire year. I did it, I survived, I made it.
For my first clothing purchase at the beginning of January I bought two dresses from a tiny hut in Belize. They were 2 for $5.
I was contemplating trying to continue my resolution and not buy the girls clothes for another year, but I decided against it. My sewing skills have grown and I know I don’t have to go out the store whenever we need something. I learned a lot last year and will continue to live in a frugal and non-wasteful way. But I want to have some new goals for the blog this year and I also want to be able to buy a cute shirt when I run across one in a store. Aleah’s pants have been slowly turning into capris and I want to be able to buy her some shirts to go under her dresses or sweaters to go over them.
After I bought the two dresses I felt relieved. I thought I would feel bad and guilty as I ended my resolution, but I didn’t. I felt a sense of accomplishment looking back at the past year and also excited that this experience was now behind me and I could look forward to something new.
It was strange buying the dresses because I had not done so in over a year. But I felt okay doing it. I thought I would regret buying the first item, but I didn’t. I felt proud of what I had done in the previous year but also glad that it was over. Phew.
Heres to a fresh new year full of fresh new possibilities.
Woohoo!! You made it!! It’s a HUGE accomplishment and you should be very proud. Your sewing has come so far!! I bet you guys saved a boat load of money, too. How perfectly sweet to treat them to new dresses on vacation to celebrate. Proud of you!!
Good job mama! Also don’t be so hard on yourself the first purchase you bought for the girls after a entire year was 2/$5!!!!!! Who could feel bad after that you! You go girl!
sorry fast fingers! *Who would feel better after that? You go girl….
and they were two for $5.00…..without any bargaining. That is as frugal as one can get.
