Frozen Water Experiment

26 Jan

A couple mornings ago the weather was 25 degrees and about 50 below zero with wild chill.

Before we even had eaten breakfast, Jared decided to try a little experiment.  He went outside with a cup full of cold water and through it up in the air….Nothing happened.  Hmmmm.

The girls were very amused.

We boiled a cup of water and then flung the water out of the up into the air….And it worked!

When the water flew into the air it made a hissing sound (I had to take Jared’s word for it because I stayed in the comfort of my warm house) and dissolved into a cloud of smoke.

If it gets that cold again make sure you try this, it’s a pretty amazing thing to watch.

So cool, Caitlyn! And it’s good you stayed inside to manipulate the camera and get all those good pictures! We did that once with bubbles – they will freeze at those temps. Nice to think of you all, cozy and happy in the northern world!

I want to try the bubbles, that would be interesting! It will probably get that cold again, but hopefully not for pond hockey right Abbey?
